Dream Hunts Inc. offers a variety of hunting opportunities to disabled and terminally ill adults, as well as children. Below is a brief overview of what we will offer during the 2011-2012 hunting season. (All hunting opportunities are provided free of charge). Two and three day hunts are available on a first-come first-serve basis. (Get your application in early!)
Our primary mission is to help disabled veterans with mobility issues, such as paralysis, amputations and spinal cord injuries; these are folks that need personal assistance. Priority is given to hunters who have limited access to regular hunting opportunities. We attempt to meet any special needs that hunters may require, such as help to and from hunting areas, custom ground blinds for easy accessibility, and a flexible schedule that makes it convenient for hunters to come enjoy an outing with us. Veterans may bring a family member or friend to share their experience, but generally hunting privileges are reserved for our invited guest.
Private Lease
Dream Hunts Registry
The easiest way to describe our registry is as a match-making service between disabled veterans and the professional hunting community (comprised of outfitters, guide services, timber companies, private land owners, and even hunting clubs), who donate hunting oppurtunities. This program is designed to help facilitate hunting opportunities within reasonable travel distances from the homes of the qualified veteran applicants that may only be capable of 1-2 days of hunting, due to special needs or other limitations. Please submit an application provided below to dreamhunts@bellsouth.net.
Jambourees and Campouts
While we are not your typical hunting outfitter, we do try to involve and help veterans with other types of disabilities. This is the best of the best for a Alabama rut hunt in mid January. Camping is free with restroom facilities available and hot showers.*
Dream Hunts Jamboree Is a (5) day combination hunt and camp-out in the Barbour County Wildlife Management area. Dates are January 11th-14th 2012. Campground offers free camping, bathhouse, cleaning station for game, gun range ATV's allowed in permitted areas. Please email a RSVP to dreamhunts@bellsouth.net for us to have a head count if you would like to attend. Pictures will be available in our photo gallery soon.
*We are also starting to plan group activities on various military installations and will offer updates as they materialize. We would also like to raise awareness about these hunting opportunities for big game species; deer and wild hog hunts are generally during the Fall months, and small game until Spring for turkey season.
All hunting activities are free of charge but generally don’t include hunting licenses and lodging at this time, due to limited funding resources.
